Review: Handle Business With The Evoplus Q10 Car Charger and Bluetooth Headset

From time to time we here at InfiniGEEK stumble upon some truly helpful gadgets and get to review them so that you can make an informed decision on what tech makes it into your life. Today we have the Q10 Car Charger that comes with a bundled bluetooth headset all in one convenient and nice looking package for your car. The business bros of the past may have tarnished the legacy of the bluetooth headset with their obnoxious loud talking in public and goofy looking headpiece – but that convenience though! Thankfully today we don’t have to worry about looking like a dweeb since manufacturers like Evoplus are making some truly cool looking tech that reflects it’s coolness upon us, and not the other way around! We are all busy these days though so any bit of hands free automation we can add to our driving life will make our lives easier and safer, and the Q10 from Evoplus definitely performs the task – let’s explore.

First Impressions

Before you even open the box you get a sense that this is a quality product, the package is solid and includes a nice magnetic flap that lets you preview your Q10 before you dig in.

As you can see, this headset even comes with different sized earbuds that you can easily swap in or out if you need a tighter or looser fit on your ears – more about the fit in a moment, let’s cover the basic specs just in case you can’t read it on the back of the box featured above.

Product Specs

Right out of the box you can tell this is a premium product – the package contains the manual, the charger, and the bluetooth headpiece with it’s different sized earbud options.

The first thing I noticed was the bluetooth headpiece tucked away in it’s little nook on the car charger – held in place with two very small magnets that kept the headset firmly in place. It only took a slight twisting motion to break the hold and pull it out or to snap it back into place. The entire product is designed very well – a grand improvement over the Q9 by EvoPlus – the older design is quite long and skinny, which might work better in different situations – but for me I love the compact design of the Q10 where I can get my charging AND a headset cradle built into the same small form factor.

Charging

The thing that sells me about this charger is the versatility of the dual USB-A charging ports – I have plenty of USB powered devices and I can just plug in any two (or one so my family can grab some juice on the go – keeps the fighting down!) devices and hit the road. From my testing I didn’t have any problems with charging my Nexus 5 smartphone and other gadgets – the speed was fine, quite a bit faster than my old car charger that only had one port. If you need to charge multiple devices on the go you shouldn’t have any trouble with it either.

Bluetooth Headset

Now, I am not the type of person that typically uses bluetooth headsets but in the car, the convenience factor of this headset is very high. I will definitely be using it in the future just because it’s so easy.

After charging up the headset I was able to easily pair it simply by turning it on – it automatically goes into discovery mode if it isn’t automatically paired – flashing blue and red. It showed up on my phone as simply “Q10” and paired very quickly.

From there it was working instantly, I tried out some music on the headset first and I was pleased by the sound quality – not as good as dual earbuds of course but in a pinch I could listen to some tunes on the go with this thing. The signal strength was quite good, I was able to sit my phone down and walk at least halfway through the house before I noticed any disturbance in the sound quality. You most likely will use this as a close phone companion or even a car only companion anyway though so the range is not important. The only negative thing I can say about this headset is that you can ONLY charge it in the car, which is kind of a bummer if you intend on using it walking around too much away from the car – it will eventually die, but if you are a busy person constantly on the phone in the car – calling clients, receiving calls, catching up with friends, etc – then this headset will definitely make your life easier.

I had charged this up and left it in the car for a few days and was happy to see the charge held and it didn’t need to be charged again to use it. The functions come in handy as well, you can simply answer calls by undocking the headset from it’s cradle and putting it in your ear – if you already have it in your ear you just press the multi-function button to answer.

Call quality on your end is good, no one complained when I talked to them and after hearing it myself i’d say it’s on par with your built in mic on your phone – although the distance from your mouth to your ear sometimes causes echos in these types of devices – I didn’t notice any of that with the Evoplus Q10.

Summary

I was quite pleased with the design aesthetic of the Q10 charger and it’s bluetooth headset – very clever and convenient for use in the car. Now I know not everyone can appreciate the headset option of this product but if you are reading this review then odds are you lead a busy life full of driving and phone calls – and you need a great hands free solution while keeping your gadgets charged up, and if this is you then you will surely be getting a great value from this gadget for only $32.99. You might be able to find some for less but the quality of the Q10 is tested and guaranteed, but don’t take my word for it check out the reviews on amazon for the product (which is a best practice when buying any new gadget). I would recommend the Evoplus Q10 charger – it is very innovative and I can’t wait to see what the company does next.
