Vizio’s New P-Series Reinvents the ‘smart’ TV with Google Cast and Android Tablet Remote

If you are tired of the clunky, slow, and overall useless Smart TV features that we have seen in the TV Industry the past few years then you will be pleased to see the new direction that Vizio is taking with their latest line of SmartCast P-Series Ultra HD HDR Home Theater Displays.

Reinventing Smart

In the past Smart TVs would have tons of bloat that was less useful and more frustrating for consumers really looking to bring a “smart” TV into their living room. Rather than continue that flawed path Vizio has chosen to remove all of the baggage and include Google Cast paired with a nifty Android tablet remote that manages the TV via the new Smartcast app.

The New Remote

Vizio specifically wanted Google Cast to be the brain of the P-Series, so Vizio worked directly with Google to integrate it into this tuner-less TV – which means you would use the included Android tablet (or your android or iOS powered phone) to control and view your content. The Android tablet has a sharp look and runs the Lollipop OS, even though there are no cameras or microphones it does sport an octacore Qualcomm processor – and you don’t have to use it with the TV at all if you don’t want, heck, it’s included for free! Some other cool features that you wouldn’t necessarily expect is that the tablet is equipped with wireless charging and when you place it back on it’s wireless charging dock it loads up the app so it’s ready to go next time you pick it up. You do get a stock standard remote if you feel like kicking it old school.

The Display

The display is sharp, boasting Full HD, (as if a 6-inch tablet and 802.11ac Wi-Fi antenna built in wasn’t enough) the P-Series line comes in four sizes: 50, 55, 65 and 75 inches. These displays support HDR 4K and when it becomes available they will get an update to support HDR10. These sets are packing 5 HDMI ports that have very little lag – especially in one gaming optimized port.

The base price for the 50 inch is $999 and at that price with these features, the sets are a great value and right now they are exclusive only to best buy so if you are a cord cutter looking to liberate yourself from the clunky smart TVs of the past then stop in a store and give it a try for yourself!

The reviewer has been compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free.
