Here at Hit The Floor, we love James Bond. In fact, we love him so much that we’ve written quite a few pieces on the MI6 agent, from how 007 keeps us coming back for more to why Casino Royale (2006) is one of our favourite casino movies of all time. Now, with the 25th Bond instalment just one year away from being released, there are finally some rumours about who will be recording the next Bond anthem.
Who Should Sing The Bond 25 Theme?
Right now, rumour has it that Dua Lipa will be following in the footsteps of Madonna, Adele and Sam Smith. However, according to The Mirror, the “New Rules” singer has said she is not set to record the 25th theme song. While discussing a track she actually has recorded for James Cameron’s Alita: Battle Angel, Dua Lipa told Capital Breakfast: “Oh my goodness, I would absolutely love to do Bond!” However, she later added that she hasn’t been asked to record any song as of yet.
Of course, other names have been thrown into the theme-singing ring. For instance, there are rumours that Adele may be returning to sing another Bond theme, which would be fantastic considering the incredible job she did for Skyfall. That said, there are rumours about fresh voices entering the Bond Theme pantheon as well. For one, former One Direction member Harry Styles has been mentioned, as has Ed Sheeran. Sheeran is a great option considering he has swiftly become one of Britain’s most famous singers and would surely be a great addition to any Bond movie. Paloma Faith and the Arctic Monkeys have also garnered quite a bit of support, but there’s been no word from any of their camps on the matter as of yet.
The James Bond Influence
Over the past six decades, James Bond has not only become a staple in British society, but has also influenced general pop culture as well. If we had to use one single word to describe Bond it would simply be cool. Everything the man does is undeniably cool, and everything that is even remotely to do with him is cool.
To this day, Omega watches remain a style staple for many fashionistas simply because the brand appeared in Golden Eye (1995). People from around the world visit Monte Carlo Casino because it was featured in Casino Royale. In fact, some online casinos which offer slots, card games and progressive jackpots also have exclusive, invitation-only VIP membership clubs. Some of these clubs even let their members jet off to the Bahamas or Monte Carlo. Of course, we can’t list all of 007’s influence in the world of cool without mentioning the numerous sports cars such as the Aston Martin DB9 and BMW Z8. We’d go as far as to assume those cars wouldn’t be worth quite as much as they are today if they hadn’t appeared in the franchise.
Needless to say, whichever musician records the next theme song should be pretty cool as well, and that is what we’re hoping for. As far as which artists are ‘cool’ enough for this chance of a lifetime, we can’t be sure. Dua Lipa and many of the other artists who have been rumoured to be involved are all talented, but we can’t decide who would be our favourite for the position. So, we’d like to know what you think: which artist(s) do you think are cool enough to give us the Bond 25 theme song we deserve? Let us know in the comments below.
